As a warning, I'm only in Level 2 of Japanese Language. I'm doing this partly to improve my Japanese, partly for fun, and partly because I want to help those who know even less than Japanese than I do. Meaning, there are mistakes, and there are some passages I didn't even try to translate. [If a line is marked with '***', it means I had difficulty with it.]

If you know I have something wrong, or understood something I didn't, instead of being snotty, tell me (pixbell@hotmail.com) so that I can learn. I appreciate all constructive critiscm.

Go ahead and share the translation with your friends. Be warned that this is a rough draft.

pg. 44

[Kinky color picture of Kazahaya and Rikuou entwined in tape, with Rikuou grabbing Kazahaya's wrist and pulling him towards him.]

Narration: Gohou Drug
Narration: Daily use of drug causes poisoning.
Narration: Drug NO.02

pg. 45

[More flying fish around the tree. Kazahaya doesn't know what to make of it.]

pg. 46

Kazahaya: ...I entered a... house, right?

*** Rikuou: Yeah, and there wasn't this stupidly large courtyard, either.

Kazahaya [sighing]: So it's happening again.

Kazahaya: (The extra job Kakei-san gives to us is always like this. Something strange happens and causes problems.)

pg. 47

*** Kazahaya: (That's why the jerk has to follow me, I guess.)

pg. 48
[Kazahaya realizes that there's a woman next to tree.]

Kazahaya: There's someone there?!

[Kazahaya runs towards the tree.]

pg. 49

Rikuou: WAIT!

Rikuou: You IDIOT!

[Kazahaya passes through the doorway, into what appears to be a vortex. Rikuou tries to stop him, but is too late.]

pg. 50

[Kazahaya is now in the garden full of flying fish.]

Kazahaya: Please wait!

pg. 51

[The woman is a mid-aged lady wearing a kimono.]

Kazahaya [stunned]: (She's beautiful.)

Woman: Who might you be?

Kazahaya: Well, uh...

pg. 52

Woman: Why are you here?

Kazahaya: I'm looking for something.

Woman: What are you looking for?

Kazahaya: Uh, it's a... book...
Woman [smiling]: Are you in a hurry?

Kazahaya: Um... no, uh... (I was in a hurry.)

pg. 53

[There is now a table with two cups and a pot of boiling tea.]

Woman: Won't you join me for tea?

[Kazahaya sits down, and is served tea.]

Kazahaya: Excuse me, but, you are...?

Woman: You probably know.

pg. 54

Woman: You probably already know who I am.

Kazahaya: (I know her...?)

Kazahaya: What are these fish?
Woman: They're from inside of me.

pg. 55

Woman: They were also made by that person.

Kazahaya: Is the tree, too?

*** Woman: Yes, that too. But the tree has its confidence.

Woman: Do you know what kind of tree this is?

Kazayaha: ...Is it a fig tree?
Woman: Yes, that's right. A fig tree.

pg. 56

Woman: Have you ever fallen in love?

[Kazahaya is stunned.]

*** Woman: A yearning so strong you want to die.

pg. 57

[Kazahaya's expression is mute.]

*** Woman: I have. I yearned, and yearned, and yearned... A love of constant yearning.

Kazahaya: Who were you yearning for?

*** Woman: The one who made [created?] me.

pg. 58

Woman: But by the time that person made me, too much time had passed for him. He's dead.

[Kazahaya's expression is still blank. Like he's thinking of his own experiences, or he feels sad for the Woman.]

Woman [touching the tree]: This tree is a fig tree, a tree that no flowers blossom on.

Woman: And so, I want at least this...

pg. 59

[The tree opens to reveal a figure inside, probably male, inside.]

Woman: I want to be with the memories of the one who made me.

Kazahaya: (Oh... I've seen this person somewhere...)

pg. 60

Woman: I want to stay here peacefully.

Woman: Because this place resembles closely the house he made me in.

Kazahaya: (Resembles...? This place...?)

*** Kazahaya: (Where *is* this place? I came here to do something...)

pg. 61

Woman: So I don't want to be bothered.

[With her hands, the Woman puts Kazahaya into a drug-like trance. He falls into her arms, eyes half-closed.]

Woman: Sleep, inside of me.

[The Woman's body opens up, taking Kazahaya slowly into her.]

Kazahaya: (I'm tired... so sleepy.)

pg. 62

Woman: You're a part of me. The one who made me, the fig tree, and the world where fish swim in the air.

Kazahaya: (What is there besides this?)

Woman: Nothing. There is nothing to bother your sleep. So go ahead, sleep peacefully within me.

pg. 63

[A pounding noise is heard. Rikuou is banging his fists against the door.]

Kazahaya: (Who is he...?)

Woman: It's nothing, don't think about it. I'll let him sleep with you.

[Still in the process of being taken into her, Kazahaya for some reason slips his hand into his back pocket, where the condom Kakei gave him is.]

pg. 64

[Kazahaya suddenly remembers the book, Kakei, Sagai, Rikuou, and realizes that Rikuou is yelling at him.]

Kazahaya: That's why I came here! To look for the book!

pg. 65

Rikuou [yelling from the doorway]: Pull your hand out!

[Kazahaya, with a fair amount of disgust, rips his arm away from the Woman. She smirks.]

Rikuou: Come back!

pg. 66

Kazahaya runs towards the doorway, the fish try to attack him.]

Rikuou: RUN!

[A branch of the tree wraps itself around Kazahaya's leg, but he's close enough to the doorway for Rikuou to pull him out of the weird dimension.]

pg. 67

[Rikuou does something with his hand-- as though he were throwing energy-- at the doorway.]

pg. 68-69

[The world of fish and the fig tree is literally torn in half. Where the weird world was is now a normal corridor.]

pg. 70

[On the ground lies a torn-apart book.]

Kazahaya: The woman! What happened to her?!
Rikuou: Woman?

Rikuou: There was no woman.
Kazahaya: You told me to pull my arm out of her!

Rikuou: I didn't see anything like that. I saw *this.*

[Rikuou grabs Kazahaya; Kazahaya sees a vision of himself, from Rikuou's perspective, being sucked into the book.]

pg. 71

Kazahaya: Then that woman was...

[Back to Kakei's office in Green Drugstore.]

Kakei: She might have been a character of the book.

Kazahaya: I understood after touching this. What I saw in the house was written in the book.

Kakei: A fig tree and fish swimming in the air, huh. That's definitely a part of the book.

pg. 72

Kakei: What's the problem, Kudou-kun?

Kazahaya: I was just thinking of what the woman-- I mean, what the book said.

Kakei: What was it?
Kazahaya: It said that fig trees also have self-confidence.

Rikudou: Probably because flowers don't bloom on fig trees.

Kakei: A love that doesn't bloom, then.

pg. 73

[Kazahaya remembers the Woman.]

Woman [flashback]: Have you ever fallen in love? A yearning so strong you want to die. [kogarete shide shimaitai kurai no koi.]

Kazahaya: Then the one inside the fig tree was...
Rikudou: The guy who wrote the book.

Rikudou [smirking]: You didn't get even that much?
Kazahaya [angry]: You just said what I was thinking!

pg. 74

Kakei: At any rate, I'm glad you two came back safely.

Kakei: But,

Kakei: The objective was to *find* something, not to *destroy* it.

Kakei: You won't get a reward.

[Rikudou sighs in a "that's-life" kind of way, Kazahaya doesn't take it well.]

*** Kakei: Now, go back to work. [directions of what kind of work, can't read kanji.]
Kazahaya [upset]: Okay.

Kakei: Rikidou-kun.
Kazahaya: Yes?

Kakei: So that condom helped you out, after all.

pg. 75

Kazahaya: Huh?

[Kazahaya notices Rikuou looking at him.]

Rikuou: Because you messed up.

Kazahaya: (AAARGH! He really IS a bastard!)

Kakei: Go to work, both of you.
Kazahaya: We will.
